Alabama Red Cross in need of funds after assisting with 168 fires in 2016

(WIAT) — The Alabama Red Cross says they are in need of funds and have been busy assisting fire and disaster victims.

According to Alicia Anger with the Red Cross, to date this year they have assisted with 168 fires in multi-family dwellings. She says Alabama is among the top in the nation for house fires.

There are several ways to donate:

  • Call: 1-800-Red-Cross
  • Online: redcross.org/Alabama
  • Checks can be sent to the Alabama Chapter of Red Cross: 114 22nd South, Birmingham, AL (They can be made out to the Alabama Red Cross)

Currently, the Red Cross are assisting surviving members of the family affected by the fatal house fire in Adamsville. They are helping the family find housing and with case work.
